About TruLight KC
Built on decades of hands-on experience. Focused on doing things the right way.
More Than a Lighting Company
TruLight KC was founded with a simple idea: if you're going to add something permanent to a home or business, it should look like it was meant to be there.
We're a locally owned Kansas City company specializing in professionally installed permanent exterior lighting. But our approach comes from a much broader background in construction, renovation, and hands-on problem solving.
For us, installing permanent lighting isn't just about attaching lights to a roofline. It's about understanding the structure we're working on, finding the cleanest installation method, paying attention to the details, and leaving behind a finished product that complements the property rather than looking like an add-on.
Built From a Lifetime of Hands-On Experience
TruLight KC's founder has been working professionally in the construction trades since 2002, but the interest in building and improving things started much earlier.
In 1993, at just 12 years old, one of his first real home-improvement projects was re-tiling the family shower for his dad. What started as an early willingness to tear into a project and figure out how to do it right eventually developed into decades of experience working with homes, buildings, tools, materials, and the challenges that come with them.
That background shapes the way TruLight KC operates today.
We understand that we're not simply installing a lighting product—we're working on someone's home or business. Every installation deserves the same attention to detail, respect for the property, and pride in workmanship that any permanent improvement should receive.
Why TruLight?
When we decided to bring permanent exterior lighting to the Kansas City area, we didn't want to install something that was useful only during the holidays.
TruLight gives homeowners and businesses a permanent lighting system that can become part of the property itself.
Use warm or true white lighting for subtle architectural accents. Light up your home for Christmas, Halloween, Independence Day, or game day. Highlight outdoor living spaces. Add visibility around driveways and walkways. Create custom zones, schedules, colors, and patterns—all without putting lights up and taking them back down every year.
The goal is simple: install it once and find reasons to use it all year long.
The TruLight KC Approach
Our construction background influences everything from the way we plan an installation to the way the finished system looks during the daytime. We believe permanent lighting should be:
Cleanly Installed
Tracks, wiring, connections, and equipment should be installed with the finished appearance of the property in mind.
Designed for the Property
Every house and building is different. We plan around rooflines, peaks, transitions, architectural details, and how the property will actually use the lighting.
Useful Year-Round
Holiday lighting may be what gets your attention, but architectural lighting, outdoor illumination, security applications, game days, parties, and everyday accent lighting are what make a permanent system truly valuable.
Installed With Pride
We're putting our name on the finished project. We want the installation to be something both the customer and TruLight KC are proud to show off.
Local Company. Long-Term Relationship.
TruLight KC isn't here simply to install a system and disappear.
We're building a local company serving homeowners and businesses throughout the Kansas City metro, and our reputation will be built one installation at a time.
That means being available when customers have questions, helping them get the most out of their system, and standing behind the work we perform.
Because when something is going to become a permanent part of your property, who installs it matters.
